About The Position

Binswanger Glass is seeking a Drafter Lead to join their engineering department. This role offers the opportunity to make a difference and grow within the company. The Drafter Lead will assist with engineering department needs, focus on drafting projects, and help solidify standards. A key responsibility will be to directly set up and manage the fabrication aspect of the engineering department workflow, providing shop drawings, material take-offs, and cut sheets for fabrication. The role also involves reviewing the work of other drafters in the department. Binswanger Glass has a long history, founded in 1872, and is a leading retailer and installer of architectural glass and aluminum products in the construction and residential markets in the United States, headquartered in Memphis, TN.

Requirements

Experience in light-gage sheet metal fabrication using steel, stainless steel, brass, aluminum materials, etc.
Familiarity and experience with metal finishing techniques and metal finishing equipment.
Mathematical skills as applied to metal fabrication.
Competent in interpreting metal fabrication production orders, patterns, and method layouts.

Responsibilities

Assist with engineering department needs and provide professional assistance.
Focus on drafting projects and assist in solidifying standards for the first few months.
Directly set up and manage the fabrication aspect of the engineering department workflow.
Provide shop drawings, material take-offs, and cut sheets for fabrication.
Provide reviews of work by drafters in the department.
