About The Position

A Drafter I will produce precast product elevations, including a design set for the engineer, an approval set for the customer, and a final set for the field. This role also involves creating production drawings, steel drawings, and miscellaneous drawings for plant and vendor use. The position requires performing tasks for low complexity projects with minimal assistance, utilizing a Computer Aided Drafting System (CAD) to layout precast units that correlate with plans, specifications, addendum, and the bid package. The drafter will also recommend efficient and cost-saving panel layouts, communicate with external contacts (Architects, Engineers, General Contractors, Steel Vendors, Outsource Companies), and internal contacts as needed. Documenting changes or concerns and forwarding them to the job team, carrying out all other related tasks to reach the goals of the drafting group, inputting ideas to streamline processes, and helping create and improve standards are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • A two (2) year technical college degree related to the construction industry, specific to drafting, or equivalent.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints, customer sketches, and specifications.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or equivalent.
  • Ability to correspond well with others and the flexibility to change tasks midstream.
  • Some discretion and independent judgement may be required.
  • Well-versed with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to work more than a 40-hour work week when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Precast Wall construction.
