About The Position

Knife River is a PEOPLE-first company and one of the 10 largest construction materials producers/contractors in the Country. This is a seasonal position, offering winters off for personal activities while benefits continue year-round. The role involves opening and preparing sites for aggregate extraction and stockpiling, and then restoring the site after operations are completed. The typical schedule is eleven days on from 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM, followed by three days off. Knife River is committed to providing team members with the tools, training, and time to work productively and safely.

Requirements

General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
5 years equipment maintenance and operation.
Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling, and cleaning) on bulldozer.
Safely and properly operate bulldozer.
Construct drain field and ditches as needed.
Prepare site for aggregate mining and stockpile millings and other aggregate products for the plants.
Recover submerged aggregate.
Cover fabric on job sites.
Maintain strong customer relations with managers, supervisors, pit owners, coworkers and other customers.
Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written).
Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills: ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
Monitor and discuss production problems with coworkers and managers/supervisors.
Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
