Right now our Tacoma Warehouse is seeking a DOT Truck Driver - Class A - FT. Hourly Rate: $25.75 per hour. Position Summary: The DOT Truck Driver operates Class A air-braked equipped combination vehicles to and from Retail and Donation sites in a safe and efficient manner. Salary: $25.75 per hour. Schedule: This position works 4/10s (Four, 10-hour work days).
Requirements
- CDL Class A or Class B
- 3 - 6 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current Medical Examiners Certification (DOT Physical)
- All offers of employment are contingent upon the receipt of a background check report, which may include a review of the applicant’s driving record and drug screening, as deemed acceptable by Goodwill.
- Washington State Driver’s License required; CDL Class A or B
- Ability to read and interpret hard data and metrics.
- Ability to write creatively and articulately with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and average.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra when working on spreadsheets.
- Ability to create and manage departmental budget.
- Knowledge Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel and PowerPoint.
- Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of DOT Truck Driver.
- Self-motivated; resourceful, creative; high integrity; problem solver; looks to resolve issues; positive can-do approach; and ability to build effective working relationships.

Responsibilities
- Drives diesel powered tractor with 27’ or 53’ trailer between distribution center, retail stores and donation centers.
- Backs up trailer to loading dock.
- Places stairs against the back of the trailer to load items into trailer.
- May place chains on tires in snowy weather.
- No touch freight
- Class B, transport compactors and dumpsters to landfill or transfer station
- Daily Vehicle Inspection: Complete daily pre/post trip inspections and maintenance checks; ensures that all aspects of vehicle operation and material handling are done according to proper safety procedures. Responsible for vehicle’s equipment and for reporting repair needs.
- Follows Safety Procedures: Adheres to all Goodwill and FMCSA safety regulations; reports all safety hazards, incidents, and accidents immediately.
- Customer Satisfaction: Build and maintain good rapport and relationships with customers and clients.
