About The Position

Total Safety is looking for a DOT Driver to join their safety-conscious team. The DOT Driver drives a commercial truck and a variety of trailers to pick up, haul, and unload equipment and supplies to and from job sites and customer locations. This role involves cross-training in air work, gas detection, and rescue services, and requires strict compliance with current DOT regulations. Requirements

  • At least 12 months of verifiable DOT driving experience within the last three (3) years.
  • A valid DOT medical examiner's certificate with a minimum of 3 months prior to expiration.
  • Insurable for Total Safety vehicle insurance while driving the company truck.
  • A satisfactory driving record meeting all requirements of the FMCSR and company policies.
  • Minimum of manufacturer field-level training and certification in respiratory and instrumentation.
  • Valid driver's license from state of residence.
  • Valid proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Commercial driver's license per requirements of facility class A, B, or C with HAZMAT endorsement.
  • Must comply with current DOT regulations.
  • Must pass internal forklift training and certification.

Responsibilities

  • Refer to safety and operations checklists for each trailer type and follow them before each haul.
  • Complete DOT and company-required documentation.
  • Provide timely delivery and pick-up to and from designated customer locations.
  • Inspect equipment for damage and/or excessive wear when picking up.
  • Comply with current DOT regulations, including timely qualification renewals, equipment and cargo security inspections, electronic logging devices, and other required transport documentation.
  • Complete all documentation associated with delivery and pickup accurately and in a timely manner, obtaining customer signatures for proper invoicing.
  • Perform basic maintenance and care of assigned vehicle and/or trailer.
  • Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and ad-hoc equipment inspections as required by FMCSR on all commercial motor vehicles and trailers.
  • Perform weekly inspections on all non-DOT assigned trucks and trailers to ensure safety and preventative maintenance measures have been executed and documented.
  • Assist others in the facility, including stocking shelves with clean, tested equipment and loading customer orders onto trucks for delivery.
  • Maintain work area and other areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Service customers and/or company-owned electronics and respiratory equipment.
  • Assist others as needed.
  • May need to perform emergency roadside repairs.
