Dosimetrist

Siemens Healthineers
•$96,020 - $132,033

About The Position

The Dosimetrist serves as a member of the radiation oncology team and applies knowledge of radiation oncology treatment machines and equipment to generate radiation dose distributions and calculations in collaboration with the radiation oncologist. The role designs treatment plans using computer or manual computation, selecting beam geometry to deliver the prescribed radiation dose while sparing critical structures. The Dosimetrist identifies and contours normal and dose-limiting structures using images from one or more data sets and registers CT, MRI, and PET images. The role creates and transfers reference images and localization markers for portal verification and treatment delivery, including DRRs, CBCTs, and other specified IGRT methods. It also supervises, performs, or assists with simulations and tumor localization using imaging devices, and with planning and implementation of beam-modifying and immobilization devices. The position advises radiation therapists on implementation of treatment plans, including the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangements, and other treatment or imaging parameters. It performs calculations for accurate delivery of the prescribed dose, documents pertinent information in patient records, and verifies the mathematical accuracy of calculations using an approved method.

Requirements

  • Education and expertise to generate radiation dose distributions and dose calculations in collaboration with the radiation oncologist.
  • Proficiency in image registration with various image data sets, including CT, MRI, and PET.
  • Ability to meet applicable Vendor Credentialing requirements for full access to client sites and continue meeting those requirements during employment.
