About The Position

Sutter Medical Foundation (SMF) is seeking an experienced Dosimetrist III to join their Radiation Oncology team. This role involves designing and optimizing high-quality, image-based radiation treatment plans using advanced technology and standardized clinical workflows. The Dosimetrist III will collaborate with physicians, physicists, therapists, and other dosimetrists, contributing to a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, quality, and patient safety. The position supports patient care activities and team engagement through a hybrid work model, with an expectation of approximately three days per week onsite at the Sacramento Radiation Oncology location. The role also involves mentorship for Dosimetry Students and Physics Residents.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Physics related field or equivalent education/experience.
Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) Upon Hire.
5 years dosimetry experience in a progressive radiation oncology department.
Raystation knowledge required.
Ability to evaluate treatment plans for clinical value and acceptability.
Ability to coordinate essential activities in workflow for radiation therapy treatments.
Ability to follow instruction and documented procedures in performing tasks on computer workstations accurately, safely, and efficiently.
Ability to understand the technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics to derive computerized treatment plans and communicate these aspects to the radiation oncologist for plan approval and to the radiation therapist for plan implementation.
Ability to interpret and execute treatment plans as defined in relevant treatment protocols.
Mathematical skills including algebra and trigonometry.
Ability to visualize objects in three-dimensional concepts to facilitate the treatment planning process.

Responsibilities

Designing and optimizing high-quality, image-based radiation treatment plans in accordance with physician prescriptions, departmental protocols, and evidence-based practice standards.
Collaborating closely with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and radiation therapists to develop complex treatment plans.
Supporting quality and safety initiatives.
Contributing to ongoing improvements in clinical practice.
Mentoring Dosimetry Students and Physics Residents.
