This position is responsible for coordinating the Department’s responsibilities under the Native American Graves Protection & Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) as defined by 43 CFR Part 10. This extends to current collections curated under 267.115, Florida Statutes, as well as to those acquired under 872.05, Florida Statutes, Florida’s unmarked human grave law. The role also involves coordinating the State of Florida’s keepsake cemetery program by serving as the primary point of contact for the Department’s agency partners. The position requires the ability to travel and work outdoors when required, strong computer literacy focused on the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and Adobe, and the ability to lift 40 pounds and climb ladders. A Level 2 criminal background check is a condition of employment, requiring fingerprint submission for checks by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
