About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Door Shop Production Manager to lead and oversee daily operations of our contractor-focused lumber yard door shop in Des Moines, Iowa. This leadership role is responsible for managing production workflow, supervising shop personnel, ensuring product quality, and maintaining on-time delivery standards for residential and light commercial projects.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in door shop production, millwork manufacturing, or related building materials environment.
Proven supervisory or management experience.
Strong knowledge of residential and commercial door systems, hardware, and components.
Experience with pre-hanging equipment and door machining systems.
Ability to read blueprints and construction documents.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with production software and basic computer systems.
Team development, production planning and scheduling, quality assurance, and strong time management skills.
Clear communication, customer-focused mindset in a contractor-driven environment, and an ownership mentality aligned with ESOP culture.

Nice To Haves

Forklift experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

Oversee all daily door shop production operations, including pre-hanging, machining, finishing, and assembly.
Manage production scheduling to meet builder and contractor deadlines.
Supervise, train, and develop door shop team members.
Ensure quality control standards are maintained throughout all stages of production.
Maintain a safe and organized work environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
Coordinate with sales staff and yard operations to ensure accurate order fulfillment.
Monitor inventory levels for doors, hardware, jambs, and related materials.
Improve workflow efficiency and implement process improvements.
Manage equipment maintenance and troubleshoot production issues.
Track production metrics and report performance to senior management
