This position is responsible for monitoring entry doors for schools, reviewing personal identifications, and escorting building visitors to their appropriate building locations. The Door Attendant greets and assists students, staff, parents, and visitors entering the building in a professional and courteous manner, escorting visitors to and from the main office. They monitor school entrances and exits during school hours, check identification, and verify appointments for all visitors. This role also maintains a visitor log and issues visitor badges using the Scholarchip visitor validation system in accordance with school policy. The Door Attendant collaborates with school security personnel or administration to report and address suspicious activity or unauthorized access. They support arrival and dismissal procedures to ensure student safety, such as managing front door traffic and helping with bus or parent pickups. Maintaining communication with the front office via radio or phone is crucial. The position also assists in emergency situations like fire drills, safety and crisis drills, and lockdowns by following established protocols. Additionally, the Door Attendant provides basic information about school procedures and directs and escorts visitors to the appropriate offices or staff members, and locks or unlocks doors at designated times under the direction of school administrators.
