About The Position

Our Donor Technicians are on the front line every day, serving our blood donors and assisting them in their desire to donate the blood components needed to save lives. Donor Techs are hard working and multi-talented. They've got to be detail oriented and accurate in everything they do, all while providing outstanding customer service to our donors! If you think you've got what it takes to become a Donor Tech with Mississippi Blood Services, you don't even need experience. We have an excellent paid training program, and a career ladder that allows you to advance based on your own skills development.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent along with a stable work history
  • Basic computer skills, including accurate data entry.
  • Valid driver's license w/excellent driving record (Motor Vehicle Record)
  • Ability to meet fluctuating work schedules with frequent travel, including some overnight travel
  • Desire to make a difference – in this case, a life saving difference – every single day
  • Ability to work with and through others in a friendly, cooperative, unselfish manner
  • Ability to work closely and accurately within established guidelines, while sometimes working at a faster than average pace
  • Aware of and responsive to the needs and concerns of others.
  • Ability to frequently lift and move equipment and supplies, both light and heavy loads.
  • Bilingual candidates that are fluent in Spanish are highly preferred, but not required!
  • Complete a typing test.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience or training desirable.
  • Commercial Driver's License highly desirable!!!

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service to donors, with all interactions to be conducted in a friendly, supportive and professional manner.
  • Perform all aspects of registration, donor screening, and venipuncture in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Perform accurate computer data entry, and accurate paperwork documentation.
  • Assist with frequent loading of supplies and equipment and set up/break down of mobile sites, which includes lifting of heavy objects.
  • Calibrate and maintain cleanliness of equipment before and after collection activities.
  • Operate MBS vehicles on a PRN basis.
  • Help maintain interior cleanliness of all MBS vehicles.
  • Help perform pre-trip inspections on vehicles.
  • Acquire and maintain current CPR certification
  • Achieve and maintain an excellent attendance record
