Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 18 months of phlebotomy experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Ability to have flexible day shift start and end times.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and with multiple team members.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). Individuals without BCLS will be required to successfully complete the course within 6 months of employment.

  • Foreign trained lab personnel to provide a detailed equivalency High School evaluation to include US equivalent degree at the applicant's expense.
  • DLMP employees that have been in their current lab/position less than 2 years must attach early release approval from their supervisor and Non-DLMP internal applicants that have been in their current department/position for less than one year must attach early release approval from the supervisor is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Blood banking experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collects units of blood or blood components from volunteer blood donors while monitoring collection equipment and the donor for signs of adverse reactions.
  • Performs vital signs, point of care testing, and reviews standard questionnaire to evaluate safety of blood donor and transfusion recipient.
  • Adheres to all standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the collection of blood components to meet quality and safety requirements.
  • Recruits and schedules blood donors for donation appointments.
  • Performs apheresis collections using specialized equipment and/or collects blood at mobile blood drive locations.
  • Reviews documents for quality assurance, performs competency observations, and leads troubleshooting for blood collection processes when needed.
  • Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position; Also, this position DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
