Donor Services Phlebotomist II - (Full Time)

This role is for a Phlebotomist in Donor Services, responsible for collecting blood or blood components from volunteer donors, monitoring equipment and donors for adverse reactions, performing vital signs and point-of-care testing, and reviewing questionnaires to ensure safety. The position also involves recruiting and scheduling donors, performing apheresis collections, and potentially collecting blood at mobile blood drives. Individuals hired for this position must complete two years before being eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic. Visa sponsorship is not available, and this position does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 months of phlebotomy experience OR currently employed as a Donor Service Phlebotomist I for at least 3 months.
- Customer service experience.
- Ability to have flexible day shift start and end times.
- Ability to effectively work independently and with multiple individuals including specialists and Phlebotomist III team members.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). Individuals without BCLS will be required to successfully complete the course within 6 months of employment.

- DLMP employees that have been in their current lab/position less than 2 years must attach early release approval from their supervisor.
- Non-DLMP internal applicants that have been in their current department/position for less than one year must attach early release approval from the supervisor is required.
Responsibilities
- Collects units of blood or blood components from volunteer blood donors while monitoring collection equipment and the donor for signs of adverse reactions.
- Performs vital signs, point of care testing, and reviews standard questionnaire to evaluate safety of blood donor and transfusion recipient.
- Adheres to all standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the collection of blood components to meet quality and safety requirements.
- Recruits and schedules blood donors for donation appointments.
- Performs apheresis collections using specialized equipment and/or collects blood at mobile blood drive locations.
