About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Donor Relations Manager will support and strengthen CCEB’s fundraising and donor engagement efforts by developing relationships with new and existing donors, coordinating annual and major gift initiatives, and implementing effective donor stewardship strategies. This position will work closely with the Director of Development, Marketing & Communications, program staff, and other members of the organization to connect donors with CCEB’s mission and demonstrate the impact of their support. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and relationship-builder who is organized, self-motivated, comfortable managing multiple fundraising initiatives, and passionate about CCEB’s mission of serving the most vulnerable members of our communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, donor relations, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to work in office in our Oakland location at least 4 days a week
  • Experience managing donor relationships, fundraising campaigns, annual giving, major gifts, or donor stewardship.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain authentic relationships with donors and community partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop compelling donor communications, proposals, and impact stories.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and donor relationships simultaneously.
  • Experience with donor databases/CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Ability to analyze fundraising data and use information to inform donor engagement and fundraising strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with organizational leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate and confidential donor records.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and core values of Catholic Charities East Bay.
  • Knowledge of the East Bay philanthropic and community landscape is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for occasional regional travel.
  • Flexibility to participate in occasional evening or weekend donor events and engagements.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Manage and cultivate relationships with individual donors, major donors, prospects, family foundations, and other supporters.
  • Maintain an active portfolio of donors and prospects, with a focus on donor acquisition, retention, upgrades, and long-term engagement.
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors through personalized communication and moves management strategies.
  • Build authentic relationships with donors by understanding their philanthropic interests and connecting them with CCEB’s programs and impact.
  • Conduct donor meetings, including in-person meetings, phone calls, and virtual meetings, as appropriate.
  • Develop and implement personalized stewardship and recognition strategies for major donors and other key supporters.
  • Coordinate timely acknowledgments, recognition, and follow-up communications to ensure a positive donor experience.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to develop and execute annual fundraising strategies and revenue goals.
  • Coordinate donor appeals and fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, online giving, seasonal campaigns, and other solicitation efforts.
  • Assist with donor segmentation, messaging, campaign scheduling, and follow-up communications.
  • Analyze campaign results and donor trends to evaluate effectiveness and recommend opportunities for increased donor acquisition, retention, and revenue.
  • Support major fundraising initiatives and special campaigns throughout the year.
  • Support the identification and cultivation of prospective major donors with the capacity to make significant contributions to CCEB.
  • Develop compelling proposals, impact briefings, solicitation materials, and personalized stewardship reports.
  • Partner with the Director of Development and organizational leadership on major gift solicitations and donor strategies.
  • Help align donors’ philanthropic interests with CCEB’s programs and priorities.
  • Support grant and sponsorship efforts as needed in collaboration with the development team.
  • Assist in planning and implementing donor cultivation, stewardship, recognition, and fundraising events.
  • Support donor engagement opportunities, including occasional evening and weekend events.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development and organizational leadership to strengthen CCEB’s visibility and relationships within the Diocese of Oakland, parishes, and the broader East Bay community.
  • Help develop opportunities for donors to better understand CCEB’s programs, services, and impact.
  • Work closely with Marketing & Communications and program staff to incorporate compelling client stories and program outcomes into donor communications and fundraising materials.
  • Develop donor communications that clearly demonstrate how contributions support housing stability, immigration legal services, crisis assistance, and other CCEB programs.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure fundraising efforts are aligned with organizational priorities and programmatic initiatives.
  • Assist with annual impact reporting and other donor-facing communications.
  • Maintain accurate and timely donor records, contact information, communication histories, and gift information within CCEB’s donor database/CRM.
  • Track donor interactions, cultivation activities, solicitations, stewardship activities, and gift pipelines.
  • Use donor and fundraising data to monitor portfolio activity, campaign performance, retention, and revenue trends.
  • Support wealth screening and prospect research efforts to identify opportunities for donor growth and major gifts.
  • Ensure donor information and fundraising records are maintained accurately and confidentially.
