About The Position

The Mid-Level Officer (MLO) is responsible for serving a caseload of donors by initiating, building, and maintaining dynamic, reciprocal relationships with individuals, couples, families, churches, and businesses who partner financially with Orange County Rescue Mission. The MLO supports and maintains an environment that instills the advancement of those served towards dependency on Jesus Christ and financial self-sufficiency, the fulfillment of ministry mission and eight key values, and the efficient and accountable stewardship of ministry resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA)
  • 2-3 years of job-related work experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write business reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals and present complex information.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Minimum and maximum annual giving thresholds determine caseload assignment (max mid-level threshold is $3,000).
  • Mid-level donors should receive 4-5 touchpoints annually (excluding thank you notes).
  • Tier A donors should receive priority communication and the most personalized approach.
  • Tier B and C donors will receive less-personalized communication and 6-8 touchpoints annually.
  • Donors may be rotated off caseload if giving has lapsed for 18+ months, fallen below minimum threshold for 24+ months, or if new donors need to be added.
  • New donors added to caseload should be giving at the higher end of the mid-level range, have capacity and likelihood to elevate to major donor level, have proven themselves qualified, or be identified by the DOD or CDO.

Nice To Haves

  • Elevation of a minimum of 10 mid-level donors to major donor level annually.
  • Achievement of an average of 8 -12 annual touchpoints to all caseload donors.
  • Execution of a minimum of 3 solicitations for all caseload donors annually.
  • Maintenance of BoB (Book of Blessings) with 100% data hygiene.
  • Execution of touchpoint creation and organization in partnership with team members.
  • Tier A donors should be elevated above the major gift threshold and transitioned to an MGO caseload.
  • Tier B and C donors should be elevated to the next tier of giving.
  • Soft credit of first 12 months of revenue to MLO when a mid-level donor is elevated to an MGO caseload.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a caseload capacity of 400 – 600 donors.
  • Cultivates donor relationships by updating, appreciating, and asking mid-level donors to deepen their financial partnership.
  • Solicits and closes gifts from mid-level donors.
  • Executes strategy through phone, email, mail, and other touchpoints.
  • Learns about programs and projects to effectively communicate the mission to donors.
  • Conducts oneself in a professional, friendly, and truthful manner to donors with the purpose of deepening their engagement to the ministry’s mission.
  • Updates the CRM database with call notes and new information about donors to maintain clean data hygiene for all assigned donors.
  • Researches, identifies, and promotes hand-off of high-capacity donors to the appropriate Major Gift Officer (MGO), with consultation and approval by the Director of Development (DOD).
  • Meets with the Director of Development (DoD) on a bi-weekly basis and the Chief Development Officer (CDO) on a quarterly basis for accountability and to discuss strategy and mid-level donor initiatives.
  • Seeks guidance, clarity, and support from their manager.
  • Evaluates caseload twice a year to select donors to be 'rotated off' or 'rotated on'.
