About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations and Compliance, the Donor Relations and Communications Specialist will be responsible for writing and editing a significant volume of custom stewardship reports for donors, as well as assist with communication strategies and pieces that support departmental goals and fundraising priorities for the College of Arts and Sciences. This position will assist with writing, creating, designing and coordinating a range of digital and print communications for the Foundation including, but not limited to, stewardship reports, donor profiles, proposals, one-pagers, concept papers, e-newsletters, gift agreements, event invitations, programs, social media content and videos. The position entails frequent interaction via email, phone and in-person to obtain information needed for donor reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
  • Experience with graphic design and brand management
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative suite especially InDesign, Express, Photoshop, Illustrator and have the ability to edit PDF's quickly and accurately
  • Strong writing and editing skills and familiarity with Associated Press (AP) style
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Work effectively with major donors and a variety of University administrators and staff
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once with demonstrated experience managing efficient production schedules and tracking all elements of projects. The position requires a high level of production and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of graphic design principles and experience working with print and design vendors
  • Possession of demonstrable skills in programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), WordPress, html and design software.
  • Knowledge of the techniques for disseminating information to the public through various channels of communication including print, web, email and various existing and new social media channels.
  • Direct experience in development communications in higher education, especially within a fundraising campaign.
  • An appreciation of the role of private support at a public university
  • Desire to stay current with emerging trends and creative approaches in donor relations, marketing and digital communications.
