About The Position

Log in and store quarantine Donated Human Tissue in designated area(s). Inspect and ship tissue as per disposition to appropriate processing facility. Work with processing and planning departments to ensure adequate queue of tissue for production. Handle rejected/research tissue including shipments to internal and external customers. Perform physical inventories and general freezer maintenance on a scheduled basis. Receipt of items into QAD including lot/serial number. Proper handling of PRH “Hold” tissue request(s). Responsible for Medical Waste tracking of all boxes shipped off site for incineration including record retention. Maintain accurate inventory of tissue(s) in the RM Quarantine Freezer, WIP Freezers, Re-work, Research, PRH and In-transit locations. Must be available for after hours on call rotation including weekend and holidays throughout the year in the event of a freezer failure. Assist on specials projects and perform additional duties as assigned. Monday-Friday 6am-2pm

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Combination of Education and/or Equivalent Work Experience
  • 1 Year Related experience, such as tissue banking, warehousing, shipping/inventory, knowledge of sterility requirements, and blood borne pathogens.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • CTBS Preferred, but not necessary
  • Forklift / Equipment Training
  • Knowledge of sterility requirements, and blood borne pathogens.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be professional, self-motivated, innovative, communicative and assertive.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as with others.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow all applicable Work Instructions, Operating Procedures, MTF policies correctly.
  • Know, understand and work within accordance of all ISO, FDA, AATB, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Responsible for verifying accuracy of Donor tissue identification, including QRID codes and Donor numbers in correspondence with all associated paperwork.
  • Coordinate, plan and schedule shipments for IPBB testing for production. Includes labeling and transporting of donor tissue to production facility.
  • Prepare tissue for aseptic and pretreat processing based on sterility path assigned.
  • Create manifest and assign irradiation dosage by supplier facility for pretreatment of tissue for production.
  • Perform all proper documentation for tissue staging, this includes updating staging form for all tissues types to be tested through the IPBB process.
  • Perform proper line clearance to ensure accurate reconciliation of tissues for each Donor as necessary.
  • Responsible for all tissue post IPBB sampling. This includes shipment to quarantine holding facility.
  • Responsible for receiving of all raw material tissue in the Olyphant and Jessup facilities. This includes proper use of scanning devices to ensure accurate transfer. Generate appropriate paperwork and labeling for each type of shipping/receiving requirement.
  • Perform transfer in QAD of tissue received/shipped to accurately reflect physical location or transit destination. Includes running necessary reports to capture all tissue to be transferred.
  • Identify when tissue is compromised, reject, and update all appropriate paperwork and electronic information.
  • Transfer Internal Finished Good tissue post processing, physically and electronically to new locations for inventory management for all bulk cortical tissue types.
  • Generate Internal Finished Good WIP reports to determine which units are acceptable to be shipped for further processing. E.g. Bulk cortical tissue.
  • Receive, inspect, and ship Internal Finished Goods (IFG) tissue between facilities based on processing needs.
  • Inspection and shipment of blood samples and tissue for DIZG, Germany. Includes meeting all deadline requirements for blood testing. Work closely with DIZG counterparts on notification for approved tissue for shipment internationally.
  • Create invoices for tissue shipping internationally for custom agents.
  • Responsible to work with various shippers such as Fed Ex, World Courier, First Global, Hellmann’s, to ship tissue to domestically and internationally.
  • Ship tissue to other processors as requested by OPO's or to meet contractual obligations. This includes domestic and international shipments.
  • Perform destruction of rejected donor tissue on a scheduled basis. Includes providing evidence when requested from quality assurance.
  • Responsible for scheduled cleaning of Donor Log-In designated areas, supplies, and equipment.
  • Responsible for preparing and placement of Research Tissue internally and externally including shipping through appropriate means.
  • Perform physical inventory as per procedures, including investigation and correction of discrepancies.
  • Management of dry ice usage and fill bins with use of equipment lifter and fork lift.
  • Ability to work in Amega system/Other temperature monitoring systems for viewing freezer temperatures. Trained to by pass alarms when necessary after hours.
  • Responsible for Medical Waste tracking of all boxes shipped off site for incineration including record retention.
  • On call (minimum of weekly time frames)-Duties include responding to all freezer alarms as they are received during all hours/days of the week. Must have access to phone and computer to access alarm data and respond accordingly.
  • Assists on special projects and performs additional duties as assigned.
