As a Donor Center Phlebotomist, you will utilize healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process at fixed site locations. This involves collaborating with a team to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors and following all safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations for hospitals. The Red Cross provides paid phlebotomy training, offering opportunities to grow healthcare skills and career within the organization.

Requirements

  • Associates degree OR a combination of education and work experience is required.
  • Minimum of one year customer service experience in public setting is required.
  • Ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.)
  • Prior leadership experience

Responsibilities

  • Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
  • Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for volunteer donors to encourage repeat visits.
  • Maintain detail-orientation to ensure blood collection meets goals, regulatory requirements, and can be safely transfused.
