About The Position

Responsible for providing exceptional customer service while receiving donated merchandise and doing initial presort of those materials. Duties also include loading, unloading, and moving materials from or near receiving area to specific locations within the facility. May include moving materials using pallet jack, stacker, hand truck, forklift (as approved by supervisor). May be required to use hand tools as part of job requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year experience in similar setting.
  • Ability to learn how to safely operate pallet jack and or forklift.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Price merchandise in accordance with store pricing strategies.
  • Meet processing and production goals as assigned.
  • Accept donations from the public in a respectful, courteous, safe and efficient manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including thanking each donor and offering to fill out donation receipts.
  • Follow store protocol for accepting donated items. Inform donors when we cannot accept their item
  • Sort saleable items from unsaleable items (i.e. furniture, clothing, wares, shoes, books, etc.).
  • Presort donated materials and move to assigned areas.
  • Load and unload materials by hand, pallet jack, stacker, hand truck, or forklift after Goodwill forklift certification is obtained, as assigned.
  • May test electrical merchandise and/or computer components.
  • Dispose of unsaleable items appropriately.
  • May be called upon to perform janitorial duties such as cleaning restrooms, taking out trash, etc.
  • Other duties assigned by supervisory staff.
  • Attend store meetings as scheduled.
  • Follow store schedule as posted.
  • Markets Goodwill by educating employees, vendors, customers and general public about Goodwill’s mission.
  • Comply with CARF and Goodwill safety, vocational training requirements and policies and procedures.
  • Work as an active team member with other store staff and management.
  • Represent Goodwill in a professional and positive manner.
  • Demonstrate the ability to treat others with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively.
