About The Position

The Salvation Army is hiring for a full-time Donation Attendant/Material Handler at their West Covina Store. This role offers a great opportunity to gain or enhance customer service skills with donors while contributing to the success of the Adult Rehabilitation Program.

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees and donors
• Ability to read and write and to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
• Ability to grasp, push, pull objects up to 75lbs. with or without assistance
• Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks

Nice To Haves

• Appear neatly and cleanly dressed in suitable clothing as per The Salvation Army dress code policy

Responsibilities

• Maintain and clean up the area in and around the Donation trailer/pod at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Courteously assist donors in the receipt of donated items and provide receipts.
• Maintain all reports and paperwork as instructed by the Supervisor.
• Separate and sort all donated material into the proper containers, and properly stack material as instructed by the Supervisor.
• Assist TSA PA/Drivers with loading donations onto trucks as necessary.
• Inform the supervisor of needed items prior to running out (i.e.: brooms, receipts, totes, carts, etc.).
• Secure and lock the Donation trailer/pod at the end of each shift.
• Be available for flexible scheduling.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
