About The Position

The Domestic Violence Response Team Associate will be part of the Family Wellness and Child Well Being department, specifically within the Family Violence & Shelter Support (FVSS) program. This role is based in Chula Vista, CA, and is on-call. The position involves responding to domestic violence situations, conducting safety assessments, providing crisis intervention, completing referrals, and managing case files. The schedule requires working four shifts every two weeks, including weekend and holiday shifts, with specific meeting requirements. The FVSS program aims to address domestic violence impacts on families through prevention, early intervention, and treatment strategies, offering a spectrum of bilingual, culturally competent services.

Requirements

B.A. or B.S. degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice or a related field, preferred OR experience working with domestic violence, case management or at-risk youth as an equivalency.
If substituting degree for experience a minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in the areas of domestic violence, individual, group, and family counseling, community education and development, advocacy, and case management. Experience should preferably have been in a community based or neighborhood service organization.

Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Tagalog) strongly preferred.
Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), Child Abuse Central Index Check (CACI), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.
Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check. Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver’s license and valid auto insurance policy. (Approximately 80% of the time.)

Responsibilities

Must respond to the scene within 15-20 minutes for local Law Enforcement Calls
Conduct safety assessments and provide crisis intervention services.
Complete CWS referrals when appropriate.
Must attend agency and other meetings as requested by Program Director; night meeting twice monthly, Second and Fourth Thursday, at 6 p.m.
Complete case file paperwork completely and in a timely manner.
Enter client level data and case notes into database before end of shift.
Schedule varies based on staff/shift availability.
Must work four shifts every two weeks, including a Saturday or Sunday shift twice monthly.
Must work four holiday shifts per year.
Attend all agency required meetings and trainings.
As other duties assigned.
