About The Position

The Domestic Violence Crisis Intervention Specialist will maintain a safe, supportive environment for survivors residing in the shelter. This role provides individualized support, resources, and crisis intervention to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking by using Trauma-Informed approaches. The position is part-time, with a shift schedule of Saturday-Sundays from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM at the Summit County Domestic Violence Shelter.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 1 year of experience with survivors of trauma, mental health, or addiction preferred.
Valid Ohio driver’s license and insurability.
Ability to pass background checks (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigation).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with diverse populations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Nice To Haves

CPR, First Aid, AED, and Narcan certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide confidential, trauma-informed support to survivors, including crisis intervention, advocacy, hotline responses, shelter intakes, referrals, safety planning, and follow-up care.
Assist with shelter operations, including providing shelter coverage, ensuring safety, providing transportation, conflict resolution, assisting with cleaning and food preparation as needed, and completing cleaning responsibilities.
Facilitate workshops for survivors on self-sufficiency skills and provide daily survivor engagement.
Complete timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency policy.
Collaborate with agencies to secure services for survivors and support case managers and H&H staff in individualized survivor plans.
Participate in professional development and community representation.
Adhere to Service Excellence standards.
Comply with agency policies and procedures, federal and state requirements, CARF standards, and educational/certification/registry requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
