This position is responsible for providing training, technical assistance, and support to Child Protective Workers by helping to develop a protocol to manage domestic violence cases. The role serves as a resource for survivors of domestic violence and any community partners involved in the child protection system. The advocate works with community agencies to enhance domestic violence victim safety, increase batterer accountability, reduce the number of children being removed from a non-offending parent, and reduce the number of families re-entering the child welfare system. The Victim Advocate provides counseling, follow-up, information and referral, personal advocacy, criminal justice support, emergency legal advocacy, telephone contact, and assistance with filing Victim Compensation to domestic violence victims.
