Alpert Jewish Family Service (Alpert JFS) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that has been strengthening and enriching the lives of individuals and families since 1974. Grounded in compassion and guided by Jewish values, Alpert JFS serves a diverse community by providing comprehensive human services. The agency focuses on the well-being of children and families, the independence of older adults, and the quality of life for individuals with special needs. The Domestic Abuse Program Director will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering comprehensive domestic abuse services in Palm Beach County. This role involves providing direct, trauma-informed support to survivors, leading program development, conducting community outreach, implementing prevention education, and engaging in partnership development. The position aims to enhance the Jewish community's response to domestic abuse through integrated clinical care, prevention programming, and collaboration with community stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, or related mental health field required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience working with survivors of domestic abuse or in a related field.
  • Strong clinical assessment, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Jewish traditions, culture, and experience working within the Jewish community.
  • Program management, community outreach, and partnership development experience.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and public speaking abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and MS Office tools.
  • Ability to lift materials (up to ~20–30 lbs.) for outreach events.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for individuals seeking domestic abuse support, including crisis response and intake.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments, safety planning, and risk assessments.
  • Provide trauma-informed case management, emotional support, and coordinate access to counseling, financial assistance, employment services, and other wraparound supports internally and with external community partners.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records and ensure compliance with best practice standards.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate domestic abuse programming, including support groups such as Women in High Conflict Relationships, and prevention initiatives.
  • Lead and coordinate Relationships and Decisions, the teen-led peer-to-peer prevention program.
  • Recruit, interview and train new “teen trainers” for the Relationships and Decisions program.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with the teen trainers.
  • Identify training opportunities (“gigs”) for teens in the community, including Jewish day schools.
  • Expand curriculum to stay current with grant opportunities.
  • Track program outcomes and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Design and deliver domestic abuse awareness, prevention, and empowerment education to community audiences, including synagogues and schools.
  • Represent the agency at community events, coalitions, and domestic abuse initiatives.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with domestic abuse organizations and community providers (e.g., AVDA, Harmony House, Jewish Women’s International).
  • Serve as staff liaison, representing the Palm Beach County Jewish community at local or statewide activities, committees, and/or events.
  • Re-establish KOLOT, a Jewish domestic abuse outreach task force, as one unified entity for the entire county; including meeting coordination and program planning.
  • Supervise or coordinate volunteers, interns, or program participants (e.g., teen educators).
  • Participate in agency quality improvement initiatives and program evaluation.
