About The Position

This role is for a Domain Architect within the Digital Services division. The work designation can be hybrid or remote depending on the candidate's location within the continental US. If located within 50 miles of Aflac offices in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, the role is hybrid, requiring at least 60% in-office work. If located more than 50 miles from these offices, the role is remote, with potential for occasional office visits based on business needs. The position involves developing and maintaining the enterprise data architecture roadmap, designing and governing enterprise data architecture, data products, and data models, and architecting data integration patterns and platforms. The role also includes leading data architecture governance, collaborating with stakeholders, evaluating data technologies, and ensuring data security and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field
  • 8+ years of related relevant architecture or programming experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Domain-Specific Modeling
  • Enterprise Architecture Frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman)
  • Relevant Platform Expertise (e.g., CRM, ERP, E-commerce)
  • Integration Technologies (e.g., ESB, Middleware)
  • Database Technologies (e.g., RDBMS, NoSQL)
  • Domain-Driven Design
  • API Design and Management

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field.
  • Ten or more years of related relevant data architecture work experience in healthcare or insurance industry.
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering complex solutions on AWS and Snowflake platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise data architecture roadmap, aligning capabilities and investments with business strategy, AI initiatives, and enterprise technology objectives.
  • Design and govern enterprise data architecture, including data warehouses, data lakes, lakehouse architecture, streaming platforms, and cloud-native data services.
  • Design and govern enterprise data products, ensuring data assets are discoverable, reusable, interoperable, and aligned to business capabilities and domain ownership models.
  • Develop and govern data models, standards, metadata, and data governance practices that support operational, analytical, and AI/ML use cases.
  • Architect data integration patterns and data platforms that support operational, analytical, and AI-driven workloads.
  • Lead data architecture governance, including reference architecture, architectural reviews, technology standards, and exception management.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product teams, engineers, and enterprise architects to align data architecture with business objectives and enterprise standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend data technologies, platforms, and architectural approaches to balance business value, risk, cost, and long-term sustainability.
  • Ensure data security, privacy, regulatory compliance, resiliency, and disaster recovery requirements are incorporated into architectural designs.
