About The Position

Paws Around Motown is hiring a dependable Dog Walker/Pet Sitter (Pet Care Technician) to provide in-home pet care in Royal Oak, Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield, and Franklin. Routes remain within one part of Oakland County. The work is active and independent, and includes dog walks and drop-in visits for multi-pet households, care for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and behavioral backgrounds, and care for cats and other small animals. The role also involves feeding, hydration, medication administration, Snout-to-Tail Health Assessments, and detailed visit reports with photos submitted through the company app. The work takes place outdoors year-round. The successful candidate is dependable, uses sound judgment, communicates clearly with clients and the team, learns new apps and systems quickly, and maintains accurate reports. Paws Around Motown provides training, a dedicated mentor, and Pet CPR and First Aid certification. Advancement pathways include Senior Pet Care Specialist and Team Leader. This position offers part-time or full-time hours, with a minimum of 25 hours per week. Candidates must be available at least three weekdays per week, including Thursday, for either the 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. shift, the 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. shift, or both on scheduled days. Availability is also required for one weekend per month and all or most major holidays. Pay is $15–$17 per hour.

Requirements

Love dogs and be able to read their body language.
Be comfortable caring for dogs, cats, and other small pets.
Be physically active and comfortable walking several miles a day in Michigan weather.
Learn new apps and systems quickly and keep visit reports detailed and accurate.
Communicate clearly in writing and in person with clients and the team.
Take feedback well and apply it on subsequent visits.
Be dependable, use sound judgment, and take pride in doing the job well.
Valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable insured vehicle.
Able to lift up to 40 pounds and handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
Live within a reasonable drive of Royal Oak, Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield, and Franklin.
Pass a background check.
Available for at least 25 hours per week and at least three weekdays per week, including Thursday.
Available for the 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. shift, the 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. shift, or both on scheduled days.
Available to work one weekend per month and all or most major holidays.

Responsibilities

Provide in-home dog walks and drop-in visits for multi-pet households.
Feed pets, provide hydration, and administer medication.
Conduct Snout-to-Tail Health Assessments and serve as an observer of pets’ wellbeing in the field.
Submit detailed visit reports with photos through the company app.
Handle dogs of all breeds, sizes, and behavioral backgrounds.
Care for cats and other small animals.
Work outdoors year-round in the assigned service areas.
Communicate clearly with clients and the team, and use sound judgment when decisions are needed.
