About The Position

Destination Pet is seeking a Dog Trainer to join their team at K9 Kampus. Destination Pet, founded in 2016, offers a range of pet services including day care, boarding, training, grooming, home care, and veterinary care. The company's mission is to elevate the love and lives of pet families through innovative and trustworthy pet services.

Requirements

• Must be a pet fanatic – pets are part of our family!
• One year of professional dog training experience required.
• Knowledge of various dog commands.
• Knowledge of different dog breeds.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to identify pet behavioral issues.
• Ability to create a plan of action for pet parents.
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends
• Must frequently lift 40 pounds.
• Must be able to be on feet for the duration of your shift.
• Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently.
• Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
• Comfortable handling dogs of all breeds and sizes
• Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander and excretions.

Nice To Haves

• Training certification preferred.
• CGC Evaluator, AKC Evaluator.

Responsibilities

• Create a training plan for the dog.
• Teach commands to the dog and pet parent.
• Be patient with a stubborn dog.
• Teach pet parents about dog behavior.
• Understand a pet parent’s needs.
• Work with the pet parent to teach them about their dog.
• Teach pet parents how to reinforce good behavior.
• Listen to pet parent concerns.
• Performs add-on services as needed.
• Follows procedures for the safe handling of all pets.
