Critical minerals like lithium, uranium, and rare earth elements are the building blocks of nuclear technologies. The United States depends heavily on imports for many of these materials, which makes our energy systems vulnerable to global supply problems, trade conflicts, or political instability. By using artificial intelligence to study and predict potential disruptions in these supply chains, this project helps the nation plan ahead, strengthen domestic production, and support amore secure and sustainable energy future. We are developing an AI-based platform to analyze and forecast potential disruptions in the U.S. critical mineral supply chain, focusing on materials essential for nuclear technologies. The intern will help collect and analyze data on trade flows, production trends, and global market signals, and assist in building machine learning models that identify supply risks such as shortages or price fluctuations. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities as well as strong communication skills for technical reporting are required. Additionally, prior experience with Python, data analysis (pandas, NumPy), or machine learning and basic understanding of supply chains, energy systems, or economics is also desirable. Coursework in engineering, data science, or economics is preferred but not required. Education and Experience Requirements The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States. Applicants must be: ‒ Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution. ‒ Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or ‒ Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution. Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins. Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Must be a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident at the time of application. If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test
