About The Position

This role is part of the final certification step in the mortgage document custody process. As a Document Custody Review Specialist, you will independently review mortgage documents for accuracy and completeness against investor guidelines (including Ginnie Mae requirements), ensuring loans meet strict documentation standards before final certification. This is an excellent entry‑level opportunity for candidates who enjoy detail‑oriented work, are self‑motivated, and want to build a long‑term career within M&T Bank. Prior document custody experience is not required – training is provided – and this team is known for developing talent and promoting from within.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or two years of general work experience
• Able to lift 30 -50 pounds
• Able to climb on a ladder and/or stool and bend for filing

• Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage time effectively
• Willingness to ask questions and seek clarification when needed
• Data entry, document review, or quality control experience
• Office or customer service background

Responsibilities

• Perform document review and data matching using the Document Custody tracking system
• Ensure documentation complies with agency and investor guidelines
• Identify, document, and escalate discrepancies or risk‑related issues as needed
• Maintain precise and timely system updates for tracking, reporting, and audit purposes
• Follow established procedures while demonstrating sound judgment when exceptions require interpretation
• Adhere to M&T Bank’s risk, regulatory, and internal control standards
• Support audits and regulatory requirements as applicable
• Promote a respectful, inclusive workplace that reflects the M&T Bank brand
• Complete other related duties as assigned
