About The Position

The Document Control Specialist is responsible for managing, tracking, and maintaining all technical and administrative documentation for power generation projects, including EPC, construction, startup, commissioning, and operations phases. This role ensures document accuracy, version control, compliance with project and regulatory requirements, and timely distribution to internal teams, contractors, and clients.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of document control experience in power generation, utilities, EPC, or heavy industrial construction.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and construction documentation (P&IDs, drawings, specs, procedures).
  • Experience with document management systems (e.g., Aconex, SharePoint, Procore, OpenText, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting power plants (combined cycle, gas, steam, renewable, or transmission projects).
  • Familiarity with startup, commissioning, and turnover documentation.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC documentation processes.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-project environments.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain document control systems for power generation projects (gas, steam, combined cycle, renewables, or transmission-related facilities).
  • Manage engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, RFIs, submittals, transmittals, and as-built documentation.
  • Ensure proper version control, document numbering, and revision tracking in accordance with project and client standards.
  • Coordinate document workflows between engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Distribute controlled documents to internal stakeholders, contractors, and owners in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain master document registers (MDRs) and track document status, approvals, and revisions.
  • Support regulatory and compliance requirements (NERC, OSHA, EPA, ISO, and client-specific standards).
  • Prepare turnover packages, O&M manuals, and final project documentation for client handover.
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure document control compliance and accuracy.
  • Support startup, commissioning, and closeout activities by ensuring all required documentation is complete and approved.
