About The Position

In this role as a docking engineer, the successful candidate will work in a small team of Engineers, Docking Supervisors, and hourly technicians. Work tasks will include coordinating the material management and readiness of the various Graving Docks and floating assets (Atlas, Sea Shuttle and Holland). The candidate will work closely with facilities personnel to schedule, fund and oversee all aspects of material management of the docking assets. They will also collaborate with engineering disciplines tasked with technical cognizance to adjudicate material deficiencies and remediation. Additionally, the role involves working with the Docking Engineer to update and revise maintenance, technical manuals and technical drawings, as well as drafting, tracking, and managing correspondence with external government stakeholders and coordinating responses to their requests. The candidate will modify and publish preventative maintenance cards as advised by the Docking Engineer, Dock Technicians, and Tech Leads, ensuring all correspondence complies with reference documents, particularly MIL-STD-1625D and NSTM Chapter 997. The candidate must have a proven track record in safety, quality, cost, schedule, process improvement, and communications. They must be able to promote a positive team environment and be highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills. The ability to interact with all levels of management, the customer, and Human Resources, and to ensure EEO and OSHA compliance is essential.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Bachelor of Science Degree (or higher) OR 10+ years of experience of experience managing material readiness of facilities or maritime barges and ships.
  • 5+ years of experience managing material readiness of facilities or maritime barges and ships.
  • Proven track record in the areas of safety, quality, cost, schedule, process improvement, and communications.
  • Ability to promote a positive team environment and be highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management, the customer, and Human Resources.
  • Ability to ensure EEO and OSHA compliance.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Interpersonal skills to work in a fast-paced environment with all levels of the workforce
