The Dock Worker properly loads and unloads freight using a forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, or by hand. The role includes securing freight with straps, braces, and padding to prevent damage or shifting; accurately recording freight condition upon arrival at the service center; and inspecting dock equipment before and after shifts. Regular attendance is required. This is not an exhaustive list of duties: operational, safety, and other needs may require performing additional assigned tasks, and employees are expected to be able to do so. The job requires working in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities and tight time constraints, independently or as part of a team. The employee must be dependable and able to work all shifts, including overtime and weekends. The physical role frequently involves lifting at least 70 pounds and includes standing, walking, handling freight and equipment, and other physical activities. Work may involve moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, hazardous materials, high or precarious places, and varying weather conditions. Noise levels may range from quiet to loud. Applicants must be at least 17 years old, have a high school diploma or GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience, be authorized to work in the United States, and pass a pre-employment drug screen. Employees are also subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing and a criminal history background check.
