About The Position

This role involves working in the yard to move trailers to and from docks and securing loads. The position requires managing BOL paperwork and performing yard checks. Responsibilities also include checking in and out of trucks/drivers, organizing shipping/receiving documents, and occasionally performing inventory checks. The job may also involve the physical moving of freight into and out of trailers, sorting, handling, loading, and unloading palletized and non-palletized freight, and securing freight inside trailers. The use of appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts, is expected. The role requires adherence to company safety policies and the use of mobile handheld devices for tracking shipments.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language
  • Ability to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends as per company needs
  • Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 70 lbs. occasionally)
  • Sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including a pallet jack, forklift and by hand
  • Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
  • Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary
