About The Position

The Dock Helper is responsible for loading and unloading trucks and trailers and moving merchandise to designated locations for distribution. This role involves performing various activities related to merchandise handling, general housekeeping, and ensuring the safety and security of company property. The position may offer opportunities for training and advancement to a Dock Lead role.

Requirements

Ability to communicate and understand English well enough to receive work and safety instructions, answer questions, and communicate with management, co-workers, and clients.
Ability to lift items weighing over 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Ability to stand up to 8 hours/day.

Nice To Haves

High School diploma or GED desired
Forklift certification (training provided)
Potential to be trained for Dock Lead position

Responsibilities

Load and unload trucks and trailers.
Move merchandise to designated locations for distribution.
Perform general housekeeping duties.
Drive a forklift if certified.
Work as Interim Dock Lead if assigned.
Work overtime as required.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Safeguard company property, including donated goods.
Report any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property.
Act safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations.
Follow all company policies and procedures.
Promote and demonstrate cooperation and teamwork.
Assist and share knowledge and information with other employees as needed.
Use good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, sensitivity, politeness, and thoughtfulness.
Work with, train, and/or act as a good example for program participants receiving training at Goodwill.
