About The Position

The Dock Attendant is responsible for assisting customers with the safe docking and tying of vessels, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a welcoming and professional image. This role may also involve pumping fuel and accurately recording sales. The position requires a high level of customer service and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.

Requirements

Ability to assist customers with docking and tying of vessels safely.
Ability to complete the State Boating Safety Course.
Ability to drive boats within the Marina.
Ability to wash and flush various hulls and boat engines.
Ability to assist Forklift drivers with proper placement of boats and inventory.
Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects, at times more than 50 pounds.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods, sometimes up to several hours a day.
Ability to climb vertical ladders and navigate stairs, including entering/exiting boats through hatches.
Exposure to extreme weather conditions including heat and cold.
Accurate accounting for transactions.
Ability to work with others.
Timely completion of work.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with all departments.
Presentable and professional appearance.
Knowledge of products sold.
Ability to speak effectively with customers.
Accurate inventory maintenance.
Movement of products – no old merchandise in inventory.

Responsibilities

Assist customers with docking and tying of vessels safely.
Provide an exceptional customer experience at the marina.
Complete the State Boating Safety Course.
Drive boats within the Marina.
Wash and flush various hulls and boat engines.
Assist Forklift drivers with proper placement of boats and inventory.
Take proactive steps to prevent severe weather damage to docks, vessels, customers, and marina personnel.
Ensure proper recording of all fuel and ship store purchases.
Coordinate with the Ships Store/Marina or Parts Manager to ensure proper inventory levels of fuel and ship store products.
Maintain a clean and professional store.
Operate a cash register and credit card machine, including making change.
Ensure proper recording of all sales through IDS.
Wrap and bag merchandise for customers.
Receive and enter inventory data into IDS.
Mark or tag merchandise with prices.
Special order merchandise as necessary, working with customers for the best price.
Work with vendors to ensure the best deals available.
Stock shelves, counters, and display tables with merchandise.
Prepare special sales and clearance displays.
Answer customer questions concerning products.
Provide back-up support to the parts department.
Keep the dock free of debris and clutter, including properly stowing hoses and dock lines.
Pump fuel and operate the pump out station.
Maintain proper fuel inventory reports as required.
Coordinate with the proper manager to ensure fuel pumps and pump out stations are maintained.
Understand and use spill containment supplies and equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
