About The Position

This Enterprise customer is seeking a senior-level individual with strong on-prem DNS expertise to provide both design and day-to-day operational support. This person will be a critical resource for troubleshooting and problem-solving, stepping in when the .team needs help. Their primary DNS guru left and the manager and an analyst have being trying to fill the void but no longer have the capacity. This is an immediate need to fill this gap due to upcoming DNS related projects.

Requirements

• DNS Expertise: Deep understanding of DNS systems and operations.
• Infoblox: Experience with Infoblox for DNS and IP management.
• Scripting/Automation: Capability in scripting, with a preference for Python. (Pearl experience is noted but not an absolute requirement).

Nice To Haves

• Upcoming Projects: DNS Solution Evaluation: A "bake-off" initiative to decide whether to continue with Infoblox or transition to a different solution (e.g., Proficient IP, in-house). An answer is needed by Q3.
• Security Audit & Cleanup: Addressing identified security holes, such as "dangling DNS" records, to prevent issues like unauthorized redirection to sites.
• External DNS Migration: Switching global external DNS servers from Infoblox to DNS bind, implementing an anycast solution.

Responsibilities

• Help design and identify gaps in the current DNS system.
• Provide day-to-day operational support for DNS.
• Troubleshoot and resolve DNS-related issues.
• Support ongoing DNS projects and initiatives.
