About The Position

Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma (DLO) is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician I to join their team in Enid, OK. This position involves performing a variety of laboratory tasks, including specimen handling, processing, and analysis, while adhering to strict quality control and safety guidelines. The role requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • AS degree in Medical Lab Technology or BS in Medical Technology.
  • ASCP MT/MLT certification or equivalent or be eligible for national MT/MLT certification
  • Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing for those with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology.
  • Ability to maintain a professional, courteous and pleasant attitude in times of heavy workload and stress.
  • Teamwork with fellow employees is a must.
  • Keyboard skills are important.
  • Able to work any day including weekends and holidays; able to flex hours and work overtime for other shifts as needed.
  • Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods of time.
  • Frequent walking and/or standing.
  • May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of which demand significant manual dexterity.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Report to work on time and prepared for each scheduled shift
  • Perform all assigned duties and processes, including tasks for which you are fully qualified and those within your demonstrated capabilities
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and supportive attitude throughout the workday
  • Work collaboratively as a team member and contribute to a respectful, productive work environment
  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
  • Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures (see department SOPs).
  • Review and release test results.
  • Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and all maintenance performed.
  • Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
