About The Position

Iowa Health Care is seeking a Division Administrator in the department of Internal Medicine to perform, manage, and lead activities to ensure that health services, medical care, medical/health professions education, and research programs are delivered effectively and efficiently. This position’s focus is to plan, organize and direct Infectious Disease health care operations, clinical education programs, grant/contract operations, and financial services.

Requirements

  • Masters of Hospital Administration, Business, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • At least three years of progressive administrative experience including fiscal management and operational responsibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to exercise discretion in matters of confidential and sensitive nature.
  • Excellent problem-solving, customer service, and conflict resolution skills as demonstrated by the ability to work effectively with individuals and/or teams.
  • Must possess strong organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer software and applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee recruitment, on-boarding, and off-boarding for divisional faculty and APP staff.
  • Create proforma and supporting financial data and utilize benchmarks to recommend salary and productivity targets.
  • Ensure divisional compliance with HR policies and provide advice and guidance on HR policies.
  • Provide administrative and functional supervision to assigned support staff and evaluate administrative staffing levels and assignments.
  • Develop the annual divisional RVU projection and operating budget.
  • Monitor actual versus budgeted performance and implement improvement plans.
  • Project future productivity and expenditure needs.
  • Review clinical templates/schedules and clinical productivity metrics and offer recommendations.
  • Manage faculty salary allocations and identify and rectify discrepancies.
  • Gather and aggregate financial data, analyze performance, and determine budgetary need.
  • Serve as liaison between providers and coding representatives to educate providers and implement best practices.
  • Maintain reports on clinical productivity and present to leadership and individual faculty.
  • Project and monitor faculty compensation plan performance, ensuring performance is appropriately captured and rewarded.
  • Meet with faculty to discuss individual performance.
  • Develop and execute relevant compensation plans and calculate incentive plan distributions.
  • Approve financial transactions, monitor divisional accounts, advise on appropriate account for expenditures, and review expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with division, department, and enterprise policies/procedures.
  • Review patient satisfaction reports and comments, disseminate to pertinent parties, and provide recommendations.
  • Lead and help support operational and quality improvement projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of new clinical programs and initiatives.
  • Oversee patient activities and ensure successful clinical enterprise.
  • Manage the implementation of divisional strategic plans to completion.
  • Coordinate and manage the implementation of short- and long- range goals for the Division of Infectious Diseases.
  • Collaborate with departmental and institutional leaders to ensure successful execution of programs.
  • Serve as advocate for providers while ensuring needs of patients are met.
  • Assist in the dissemination of evaluations and feedback as it relates to educational programs.
  • Ensure divisional compliance with educational requirements.
  • Serve as liaison for providers to identify clinical education needs and identify appropriate parties to develop competency.
  • Review current and upcoming funding and project potential budgetary lapses.
  • Work with division director to identify solutions for funding gaps.
  • Review requests for hire for new research staff and ensure adequate funding.
