About The Position
Great Oaks Charter School, Bridgeport is a tuition-free public charter school dedicated to ensuring a child's zip code does not determine their future. We operate on three pillars: Mastery, Leadership, and Community. Our unique embedded AmeriCorps tutoring program provides an additional adult in every ELA and Math classroom, offering small-group instruction. Requirements
- Currently in a Master's Program for Certification in Special Education (strongly considered pending transcript review).
- Experience in designing and implementing IEPs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and adapt teaching strategies.
- Patient, adaptable, and positive attitude.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in Special Education is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide personalized instruction and support to students to enhance their academic and social growth.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure that lessons are inclusive and accessible to all students.
- Adapt instructional materials and techniques to meet the diverse learning styles of students.
- Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and engagement.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders about students' progress.
