About The Position

Dive Propulsion and Underwater Navigation Support personnel provide technical expertise in the maintenance, repair, and inventory management of underwater propulsion and navigation systems. Reporting to the Dive Department Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO), this role ensures all propulsion and navigation equipment is maintained, functional, and mission-ready. Responsibilities include preventative and corrective maintenance, documentation, inventory accountability, and customer support. This role is essential for enabling operational dive missions by ensuring reliability and readiness of specialized underwater systems.

Requirements

  • Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) / Naval Ordnance Safety and Security Activity (NOSSA) lithium battery maintenance and storage requirements
  • Navy Dive School certification (Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) 5342/5343 or higher)
  • Qualification as: Material Maintenance Management (3M) Maintenance Man
  • Qualification as: 3M Quality Assurance (QA) Craftsman
  • Qualification as: 3M Work Center Supervisor
  • Certification as: Factory-trained technician for diving equipment within inventory
  • Certification as: Diving Life Support System (DLSS) Re-Entry Control (REC) Supervisor
  • Certification as: Oxygen clean system worker
  • Certification as: MK 25 Underwater Breathing Apparatus (UBA) maintenance technician
  • Clearance: Secret
  • U.S. citizen
  • Driver’s License required
  • Must be able to operate Government vehicles and equipment
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must maintain high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Must have knowledge of logistics and inventory systems
  • Must be capable of operating within classified environments and systems (Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) / Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET))
  • Must comply with all safety, security, and workplace regulations
  • Ability to lift and handle propulsion and diving equipment
  • Capability to stand, bend, and work for extended periods in industrial and warehouse environments
  • Ability to work in hazardous environments involving batteries, propulsion systems, and diving equipment
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Ability to perform duties in both indoor and outdoor operational environments

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on underwater propulsion and navigation systems
  • Maintain systems in accordance with Office of the Chief of Naval Operations Instruction (OPNAVINST) 4790 (series) and 3M maintenance program requirements
  • Conduct maintenance documentation and administer the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) SKED program
  • Perform spot inventories of propulsion and navigation equipment
  • Provide customer service support for issue and receipt of equipment
  • Manage inventory of repair parts and forecast procurement needs
  • Maintain inventory of Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) and tools
  • Ensure workspace cleanliness and organization within dive warehouse environments
  • Maintain accurate inventory using Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) or equivalent systems
  • Provide accurate issuance documentation and distribution to Naval Special Warfare units
  • Assist with maintenance of MK 25 Underwater Breathing Apparatus (UBA) and associated equipment
