The District Utility Administrator with the Department of Transportation, District 6, plays a key role in guiding major utility work that supports important highway projects. This position oversees utility relocation activities that support the planning, design, and construction of highway projects. It involves reviewing plans, coordinating with utilities, guiding staff, and ensuring that all relocation work follows standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • One year as a Utility Relocation Administrator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience as a Utility Relocation Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of utility relocation work experience and an associate’s degree in surveying, civil engineering, or in a design and drafting technology; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • A valid Class C Driver's License.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Review plans and coordinate relocation activities with utilities for proposed highway projects
  • Examine detailed utility relocation plans and permits for compliance with design standards and policies
  • Inspect relocation work and advise utility personnel on resolving conflicts
  • Prepare and monitor reimbursement and coordination agreements related to utility work
  • Lead staff by scheduling work, approving leave, and discussing goals and concerns at periodic meetings
