About The Position

As a District Utility Administrator with the Department of Transportation, you will guide important utility relocation work across the region. You will guide planning, coordination, and communication efforts that help keep projects progressing smoothly.

Requirements

  • One year as a Utility Relocation Administrator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of experience as a Utility Relocation Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of utility relocation work experience and an associate’s degree in surveying, civil engineering, or in a design and drafting technology; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • A valid Class C Driver's License.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Submission of criminal history reports (conditional offer of employment).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate proposed highway locations and identify utility relocation needs and solutions
  • Support utilities in developing plans and cost estimates for relocation agreements
  • Work with staff, consultants, and utility companies to manage the use of the Utility Relocation Management System and resolve issues
  • Direct the review of utility plans, estimates, permits, and right of way requirements
  • Track progress of physical relocations and help address disputes to keep schedules on track
  • Assign tasks, assess performance, and guide staff development and training
