About The Position

CVS Health District Support Pharmacists work throughout a district to cover pharmacist scheduling gaps and support pharmacy teams under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Rx District Leader. While working in stores across the district, the pharmacist supports management, oversight, and operation of the pharmacy and team, and serves as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap. The role includes providing safe dispensing, counseling, immunizations, and pharmacist-delivered clinical services where permitted; supporting patient access and outcomes; coaching pharmacy colleagues; and following applicable laws, professional standards, and company policies. This is a part-time position with 20 anticipated weekly hours. Travel within a reasonable radius and regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends, are required.

Requirements

• Active pharmacist license in the state where the store is located.
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Not listed on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
• Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require.

• Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods; lift, scan, and bag items; reach, stretch, stoop, and perform repetitive finger movements and precise machine adjustments.
• Close visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and inspecting small parts.
• Ability to occasionally lift or exert up to 20 pounds, frequently lift or exert up to 10 pounds, and consistently exert negligible force to move objects.
• Ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions accurately and receive detailed information through oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Help manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
• Travel within the district to fill pharmacist shifts scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator.
• Oversee the pharmacy and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap.
• Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following workflow procedures and safety guardrails and directing the pharmacy team to do the same.
• Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist on duty.
• Promote positive patient experiences through compassionate care, collaboration with patients’ healthcare teams, and proactive resolution of insurance or medication issues.
• Offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize.
• Support effective inventory management and follow and guide inventory best practices, particularly for cold-chain products.
• Remain flexible to meet scheduling and business needs and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
• Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, complete required training and continuing medical education, and seek opportunities to expand knowledge.
• Support access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care, including testing and prescribing services where permissible.
• Comply with federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies and procedures, including requirements for patient safety, controlled substances, privacy, security, and workplace safety.
• Attend work regularly and predictably, including nights and weekends.
• Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by a supervisor or manager.
