About The Position

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is seeking a proactive and analytical District Senior Human Resources Analyst to join their dynamic team. This role will help shape workforce strategy, improve employee engagement, and contribute directly to the mission of protecting and promoting the health of all Virginians. As a District Senior Human Resources Analyst, you will provide advanced-level HR support and consultation to leadership, managers, and employees within assigned districts. This role involves delivering expert guidance in key HR areas, including classification and compensation, recruitment and staffing, employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, and HR compliance and best practices. You will play a central role in driving data-informed decisions, resolving complex HR issues, and fostering a positive, equitable workplace culture aligned with VDH’s mission and workforce goals. The Virginia Department of Health comprises a statewide Central Office headquartered in Richmond and 35 local health districts dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of communities across the Commonwealth. Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and employment laws, in the areas of classification and compensation, recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate workforce data, interpret policies, develop recommendations, and ensure consistent applications of policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate complex HR concepts clearly and professionally to leadership, managers, and employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Skill in consulting, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and providing customer-focused HR services.
  • Proficiency with HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
