About The Position

Responsible for managing and directing a team of sales representatives to achieve sales and profit goals within a particular district. This role involves supervising, assisting, and developing sales representatives, advising them on best practices, monitoring competitive activity, and driving new account prospecting. The District Sales Manager also facilitates relationships between sales and business development, plans and reports on sales performance, and recruits, hires, manages, motivates, coaches, trains, and develops staff.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written forms, including spreadsheet and computer presentations.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement a range of sales and marketing programs.
  • Knowledge of the retail hardware, retail lumber and building material industry’s concepts, practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and abilities.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
  • Five to ten years of experience in the hardlines industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of the wholesale or retail hardware, lumber, and building material industry’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Frequent travel is required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, assists, and develops sales representatives in effectively identifying sales opportunities within existing customer base.
  • Advises sales reps on best practices in promoting and selling company products, programs, and services.
  • Monitors competitive activity and develops/implements new sales techniques.
  • Drives new account prospecting and development.
  • Facilitates the working relationship between the Sales Representative and Business Development Manager.
  • Plans, forecasts, and reports on sales, costs, and business performance.
  • Recruits, hires, manages, motivates, coaches, trains and develops staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested to support the successful conduct of business.
