About The Position

As an innovation leader, Gates is looking for ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded, and well-rounded individuals to join their global team as a District Sales Manager. This role is a remote position based out of the employee's home office, requiring travel within an assigned territory to sell Gates products. The District Sales Manager will be responsible for selling and promoting the Gates Fluid Power and Power Transmission product lines, with a specific territory covering Baltimore, Maryland. Key goals include meeting or exceeding an annual sales quota and achieving strategic initiatives aligned with organizational objectives. The role utilizes a consultative selling approach, technical expertise, and relationship-building with distributors and end-users to achieve these goals. Responsibilities include researching customer needs, understanding their applications, and applying appropriate Gates technologies to enhance cost of ownership and productivity. The position involves collaboration with various internal business functions.

Requirements

  • 3 years of progressive sales experience or equivalent industry knowledge
  • High school degree or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to drive long distances for extended periods of time
  • Travel required for this position is 50-70%
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree in a business or engineering field is preferred.
  • Experience in selling Fluid Power and/or Power Transmission products is highly preferred
  • Firm understanding of the MRO business is preferred
  • CRM experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing growth strategies for both existing accounts as well as new prospective customers.
  • Accelerating growth of new Gates products and solutions.
  • Pursuing opportunities to expand our business in new markets.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments within our target markets.
  • Making regular sales calls to pursue and discuss opportunities, providing training and other technical support, and increasing overall mind share.
  • Following up on leads (both self-generated and provided through marketing initiatives).
  • Timely and accurate utilization of our CRM systems.
  • Developing and maintaining short, mid, and long-term sales plans.
  • Communicating high value sales activity to contribute to effective product and service planning.
  • Providing top-quality, Gates customer service for all clients and prospects.
  • Monitoring and communicating competitive activities to identify opportunities and/or countermeasures.
