Requirements
- One year as a Safety Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
- One year of professional experience in conducting safety inspections, safety investigations, or safety training
- An equivalent combination of experience and training
- Possession of a current driver's license which is not under suspension
- Meet the PA residency requirement
- Able to perform essential job functions
Responsibilities
- Provide direction to highway crews and garage personnel on correct safety procedures and proper work methods
- Observe maintenance operations to recognize risks and recommend preventive actions
- Create and support safety initiatives that align with legal standards and department policies
- Conduct announced and unannounced visits to review equipment, work areas, and safety compliance
- Analyze accident data, prepare follow-up reports, and recommend corrective measures
- Coordinate and present safety training programs to meet district requirements
