About The Position

Responsible for supervising retail pharmacy operations within an assigned district, ensuring compliance with all laws, regulations, agreements, company policies, customer service standards, and quality patient care. The role focuses on driving pharmacy profitability and growth through analysis and implementation of initiatives, as well as managing costs including payroll and expenses. This position directly supervises Pharmacy Managers and Pharmacy Schedulers, holding accountability for pharmacy performance, clinical quality, and the overall patient experience. A key aspect of the role is developing the pharmacy talent pipeline, including recruitment, development, retention, and performance management of Pharmacy Managers and staff. The District Pharmacy Supervisor serves as a clinical expert and a role model for pharmacy practice, driving performance across their assigned geography and ensuring compliance, patient safety, and adherence in partnership with senior leadership.

Requirements

  • BS in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • 3 years of retail pharmacy management experience.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the assigned geography, or willing and able to obtain state licensure within 6 months of position start date.
  • Willing to obtain Immunization Certification within 6 months of hire date.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule including extended days, evenings, and weekend hours.
  • Willingness to travel up to/at least 80% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Responsibilities

  • Fields and resolves pharmacy communications escalated from stores and appropriate patient complaints.
  • Reviews STARS reports and collaborates with the pharmacy team on quality improvement plans.
  • Manages the STEPS approach for escalated clinical quality issues, serving as the clinical expert.
  • Engages directly with Pharmacy Managers on clinical matters.
  • Manages the performance of the assigned district, using feedback from Pharmacy Managers to improve store performance and execution.
  • Reviews district financials and KPIs with the District Manager to create action plans, conduct business forecasting, and analysis for business planning.
  • Supports the Pharmacy Talent Acquisition Partner with managing relationships with local schools, colleges, and professional organizations.
  • Owns the pharmacy manager talent strategy and pipeline, executing recruitment strategies, identifying and coaching high-potential pharmacy managers, and managing Performance Improvement Plans.
  • Ensures the resolution of customer complaints for the pharmacy and provides guidance on responses to customers’ special needs.
  • Responsible for overall pharmacy engagement, focusing on coaching and developing Pharmacy Managers.
  • Partners with the District Manager as the retail pharmacy expert to cultivate skills and pharmacy acumen.
  • Ensures compliance with all corporate policies, state and federal laws, regulations, agreements, and applicable employment laws.
  • Provides monthly quality and compliance summaries to the Sr. District Pharmacy Supervisor.
  • Ensures compliance on clinical quality related events, including coaching, training, and resolution.
  • Holds regular touchpoints and development conversations with Pharmacy Managers and Pharmacy Schedulers.
  • Accountable for pharmacist scheduling, payroll management, and cost management.
  • Participates in training and supports training efforts where necessary.
  • Seeks self-development by monitoring own performance, setting high personal standards, increasing knowledge, and seeking/sharing best practices.
  • Champions a culture of compliance and patient safety.
  • Cascades related information from conference calls, regional meetings, and corporate initiatives.
  • Reviews and cascades information from the Support Center, Regional Vice President, and Sr. District Pharmacy Supervisor to District Managers and Store Managers or Pharmacy Managers.
  • Communicates regularly with managers and team members through one-on-one discussions, group meetings, and in writing.
