The District Manager is responsible for maximizing store sales through excellent customer service, product availability, merchandising, and maintaining an exceptional store image. This role involves providing information to store management on promotional activities, business opportunities, results, trends, and competitive information. The District Manager also manages controllable costs by educating managers on procedures for controlling merchandise variation, salaries, overtime, cash, and repair/maintenance costs. Collaboration with the marketing team ensures promotions and new product introductions are fully implemented, with feedback provided to category managers regarding stock issues. The position involves partnering with vendors to ensure product availability, timely execution of monthly promotions, and ensuring vendor performance and behavior are professional. Ensuring store operations are profitable by managing cash and merchandise variation, salaries, and other controllable expense lines on the P&L is a key responsibility. The role also ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and government regulations, including enforcing and monitoring restricted sales policies. Protecting employees, customers, and company assets by maintaining a safe and secure working environment, enforcing safety practices, and providing safety communication and training is crucial. Achieving financial objectives involves forecasting requirements, preparing annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions. The District Manager provides leadership and direction to store managers, including assistance with recruiting, selection, orientation, employee development, and training programs. This includes establishing job expectations, providing coaching, administering counseling notices, initiating corrective actions, and implementing non-discriminatory management skills. Adherence to the Company Operating Policy of Legal, Ethical, and Moral practices is required. Enhancing professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, publications, networking, and professional societies is encouraged. Contribution to team effort is measured by accomplishing Financial and Key Result Area targets pursuant to Company plan guidelines.
