About The Position

The District Manager is responsible for identifying talent, developing capabilities and leadership in others, and building a high performing and high potential team. This role provides leadership, motivates team performance, executes corporate directives, and develops strategies to maximize people development. The District Manager will coach and set sales targets for Sales Account Managers, travel approximately 50% of the time or as required to manage the needs of the district, and ensure maximum sales coverage with available resources to achieve peak performance. Metrics will be put in place to measure success over time. The role involves allocating territories to appropriate sales executives, reporting performance and sales results to appropriate management, and is responsible for account management. Collaboration with other District Sales Managers is expected to ensure sales goals are achieved. The District Manager must maintain detailed knowledge of the company’s service package & operational capabilities and stay aware of competitor activity. This position is responsible for all hiring, employee counseling, training, and terminations, assuring they are processed according to proper guidelines. Regular attendance is required. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background
  • Minimum of one to three years of experience in the LTL industry required
  • Minimum of two years experience in management, preferably Sales Management
  • Previous sales and sales management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation skills; team oriented; conceptual/consultative sales skills
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable MVR.
  • Strong people management skills
  • Strong strategic planner
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job
  • Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
  • Must be able to interact well with others
  • Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
  • Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
